A ritual of slowing down at an unexpected site in the city. This 'ringdance', inspired by Oskar Schlemmer's Reifentanz, creates space for the imagination. This poetic intervention is a meticulous micro-spectacle, toying with time and space. For this poetic intervention, Nicole Beutler adapted a scene from the piece 4: STILL LIFE into a group manifestation for nine or twelve dancers.
The piece has been performed at Bilderdijkpark in Amsterdam at the invitation of WHY NOT FESTIVAL OFF VENUE during Julidans Festival 2018. During UITMARKT 2018 at Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, on the Marineterrein and on the roof of NEMO in Amsterdam. In Rotterdam as part of the opening of the 100 years of Bauhaus exhibition at Boijmans Van Beuningen and at the Rotterdam Museum Night 2019. A group of fifteen students of the department Modern Theatre dance danced the piece during Nicole Beutler Collection in the Nes and on Leidsplein in the center of Amsterdam. In June 2020 we shot a film version on the island Terschelling for Oerol festival: STILL LIFE ON THE ISLAND. In 2021 we performed STILL LIFE IN THE CITY on festival Obnazeni in Chomutov on three locations, next to a grey shopping mall, and in a park in the city, danced by eight dancers from the Czech Republic with three dancers of the original cast from the Netherlands.
