WE LIVE HERE is our annual summer academy dedicated to creating time and space for experimentation, research, and reflection. As the summer draws to a close, we gather to work and think together. This initiative is co-produced with BAU, a space for independent performing arts residencies and public events.
Our goal is to foster community, establish new rituals, and uncover untold stories that shed light on our relationship with the ecosystem we inhabit. We seek to deepen our understanding of the unseen networks that sustain this delicate balance.
Each year, we offer a rich program featuring diverse lectures, workshops, activities, and more for our participants.

HOW DO YOU WORK -Jan Martens

Jan Martens (born in 1984, Belgium) studied at Fontys Dance Academy in Tilburg and graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp in 2006. Since 2010, he has been creating his own choreographic work, gaining acclaim both nationally and internationally.
Martens believes in the communicative potential of every body. His choreography focuses on clear, direct forms that create space for time, observation, emotion, and reflection. Rather than inventing a new movement language, he transforms and contextualizes existing idioms to spark fresh perspectives. Each of his works aims to redefine the dynamic between audience and performer.

Gary Shepherd, known for composing 99% of the music for Nicole Beutler’s productions over nearly 25 years, will discuss his research for the upcoming NB piece "Now We Are Earth," premiering in 2024.
As an avid audiophile, Gary will explore his belief in sound's fundamental role in the universe. Through audio and visual examples, he will delve into topics such as cymatics, isochronic tones, natural tuning, animal biophony, and the Earth's resonant frequency. Together, we'll investigate the mathematical and physical laws governing sound and vibration, alongside Gary's insights into music perception and composition.

HUMAN - NATURE RELATIONS prof. Jan Bransen
