The first year students of the education Modern Theatre Dance (MTD) at the Amsterdam University of the Arts work on a remake of SQUARE DANCE, a short performance that Nicole Beutler made for the Come Together festival in 2017, derived from the piece 6: THE SQUARE (2016).
The dance style that is the core of this production, is square dancing. Thirteen dancers study the basics of square dancing, while being coached by rehearsal director João Dinis Pinho and dancer and choreographer Marjolein Vogels. In the creation process, under guidance from Marjolein Vogels, there is space for more freedom and personal additions by the students to the choreography.
In 2013 Nicole Beutler already worked with MTD-students. Back then, she made ONE ON ONE together with the then first year dancers.
