FUTURE VOICES: Fluid Figures & Isle of Eros

FUTURE VOICES by Nicole Beutler Projects presents the creators of tomorrow. This season features a double bill with Lucinda Wessels and Timo Tembuyser, exploring identity in motion. Wessels’ multidisciplinary dance duet Fluid Figures and Tembuyser’s post-porn pop concert Isle of Eros challenge fixed notions of identity and gender, offering a powerful argument for fluidity and self-determination.

Movement without borders, identity without limits.

Fluid Figures is a physical, multi-layered performance where dance, sound, and performance merge into a single, hybrid form. Through a queer, bicultural lens, Lucinda Wessels explores identity through an intimate, introspective journey. The dancers embody diverse roles and viewpoints, creating a dynamic where contrast and connection coexist. The piece invites the audience to let go of fixed boundaries and embrace contradictions as part of a unified whole.

In Eros, the longing burns to unite both seemingly opposite worlds.

Isle of Eros is an erotic concert exploring ‘the longing for oneness’, where the desire to merge with one another clashes with the urge to be a strongly defined individual. After several performances centered around the community as a singing entity, (Mementum, Missa Homo Sacer, Mystica, NOW WE ARE EARTH), Timo Tembuyser now presents himself as a soloist. A quirky Master of Ceremonies leads us through a post-porn pop concert. A vibrant celebration of the wild man, queerness, sexuality, and love.

About the makers

Lucinda Wessels (1990) is a boundary-pushing artist whose practice spans dance, performance, and visual art. She seeks the spaces between disciplines and identities, creating work that defies easy categorization. Her credits include performances with Het Nationale Ballet, ISH, and Nicole Beutler Projects, as well as her own productions I & Then and SLEEEP DREEEAM WAKEEE.

Timo Tembuyser (1991) is a multidisciplinary artist working as a vocalist, performer, composer, and theatre maker. Drawing on his background in architecture, theatre, music, and community work, he creates immersive projects with diverse ensembles. His polyphonic compositions bring together distinct voices in dialogue, embracing both harmony and dissonance, and creating a shared resonance with audiences and their surroundings.
