With the sea as a backdrop and the beach as the stage, star soloists, top musicians and more than 100 amateur singers bring the opera Oprhée et Eurydice to Scheveningen beach. The beach opera will take place twice on June 16th (7 pm and 9:30 pm) in the LightPavilion Scheveningen.
Festival Classique presents a beach opera every year. This year it is Orphée et Eurydice by Gluck. Although the original story from Greek mythology ends tragically, Gluck's version has a happy ending: Orphée manages to bring his beloved Eurydice back from the dead. There is a beautiful message in this: love conquers all.
The direction is in the hands of Nicole Beutler of Nicole BeutlerProjects, Kalpana Raghuraman of Kalpanarts provides the choreographies and the opera is conducted by Rick Schoonbeek of the Molto Foundation.
